Fresh off a separation, Alice Kinney works to regain her life, and she starts by moving to L.A., her hometown, with her two daughters. Kinney gets encouragement from her mother to loan her guesthouse to three young, financially strapped filmmakers. This addition to the household comes with adventures for the 40-year old. To top off the mid-life roller coaster, Alice is thrust head first into a romantic entanglement with a much younger man. The reappearance of her soon-to-be ex-husband, however, is set to interrupt Alice's new life path.
