Based on a true story, Walking with the Enemy is set during the final months of World War II. Regent Horthy is the leader of Hungary, and has been walking a fine line trying to keep his country safe from both Nazi Germany and Communist Russia. As the war nears its end, Horthy is forced from power to save the life of his son, dragging the country into chaos. In the middle of this, Pinchas Tibor Rosenbaum, a young Jewish man, is concerned about the fate of his family after their separation. Rosenbaum, aided by the woman he loves, manages to steal an SS uniform. He soon discovers the genocidal horrors of the Nazi regime, and races to save his family, and countless others.
