When they're not helping their seamstress mother keep their 1960s household together with manual labor, Jimmy and Andy Kelly focus on riding the waves in their hometown. They meet a free-spirited freelance photographer named J.B. and his friend Lani and decide that the best way to win some financial stability would be to set up a surf gear shop. The brothers and their friends have some unfriendly waters to traverse in getting their business set up, however, as local bankers are uncooperative and an intimidating criminal seems intent on harassing the boys into giving up.
